For many the coming of spring means warmer weather, new clothes, digging out the Jack Rogers, and longer days but it truly doesn't begin for me until the first weekend in May. I am absolutely in LOVE with the Kentucky Derby! I cannot explain it but I always have been....
I didn't grow up down south around horse, we didn't even have a race track near me when I was younger (at least not that I was aware of)..... my grandfather never missed watching a Derby though. I think it was seeing all of the pageantry of the sophisticated women with their huge hates and fancy new dresses on television that drew me in. It was certainly an event that was added to my "bucket list" at a young age and crossed off already as well...
I never miss a year celebrating the nest two minutes in sports, whether I am attending the track, going to a Derby party , or throwing my own (like this year).... Planning needs to begin regardless at least a month in advance to locate the perfect outfit for myself. If you have not started looking yourself so far this year.... what are you waiting for? The Derby is next Saturday!
