As I continue to go along room by room, I continue also to stay simpler in the holiday decor than I have done in previous years. Again, as well for the living room, I have very few new items and rather used decor pieces I already had in a new way.
To the left of the front door is that large shipping crate I found years back.
I moved the antique farm ladders that hold throws year-round to this side of the room to make room for the tree and changed to festive throws. The pup's large bed is always here as well but I moved their toys to behind the bed, again to make room for the tree where they are usually kept. Inside the crate, I placed a leopard trim Santa hat on the leopard statue and tucked a small pencil tree in on the side.
On top of the crate, I used books written in Italian to prop up a small MacKenzie-Childs urn that I threw a few greenery picks into. The urn was a gift with purchase back in the spring but is available on their website still at the link above. The Santa dressed in leopard is a piece I have been using for years and honestly do not remember where I found this piece. Also, years ago, I made the arrangement above in a wine gifting trunk that was given to me as a work gift.
I also always try to change out the picture to the left of the door with the seasons. This particular framed art was from Hobby Lobby a few years ago (I am not sure if they still carry this particular piece) and I loved how simple and Tuscan it looked. Throughout the downstairs, I typically place pine picks above the art to add dimension and festivity.
I kept this decor very simple. I added a lantern with a nativity scene tucked inside and my Advent candles. All of these pieces I have had for years now.
On the chair and the couch, I changed out the pillows by using these covers that were a gift to me last year (I believe they can be found on Amazon though). Dante of course had to jump into a photo since Coco had posed in the dog bed as well. Above the couch I changed out the artwork as well with this gorgeous deer painting that I picked up last year at Hobby Lobby.
The main focal of the living room of course is the tree! This is where I feel it pulled in a Ralph Lauren inspired look. I always loved how Ralph Lauren would pattern some of their home pieces with leopard and plaid together. A few years back I added the plaid into the leopard I had had for years but this year, I changed how the ribbons were placed in the tree. I used floral wire to gather and puff pieces into the tree rather than wrap around the tree as I normally do. I like the effect it made and how it came out. I also added in the Merry Christmas sign this year at the front of the tree. This sign is the only new piece I bought this year in holiday decor in this room, and it came from Hobby Lobby.
I added very little new this year in the living room. Comment below.... what did you do for your living room decor this year? Did you add any new pieces? Do you use any heirloom or meaningful pieces year after year? Also click the subscribe link on the right to get an email when a new blog posts. I will be posting room by room in the coming weeks and days.
